Petroglyphs

The third graders in Utah study local history. Around here that means (among other things) Fremont Paiutes and the amazing petroglyphs at Parowan Gap. In a month or two they'll actually take a field trip there. We only live about 20 minutes away.

We went outside to work on our own "petroglyphs" on Monday. The weather was so amazing. Pretty much perfect. And suddenly, with the kids outside carving away, laying around on the sunny grass, I felt like an art teacher. A real art teacher with real students doing real projects. Maybe that sounds silly, but it was really a lovely feeling. And oh, I could have stayed outside all day.

I'll go into more detail about this project when we're finished. I'm pretty excited about how it's turning out.
